“This is a gold medal for us”, smiles Italian captain D’Odorico

Caguas, Puerto Rico, September 19, 2015 - After falling at a thrilling semifinal against Dominican Republic, Italy successfully regrouped and achieved a Women’s U20 medal for the third time of their history. For both captain D’Odorico and coach Cristofani, the feeling cannot be better.

Sofia D’Odorico, Italy captain: “It’s absolutely great. This is a gold medal for us. My teammates and I played great volleyball with full concentration. Having this medal is a whole new level for us, not only for me but for Italy. It’s a great feeling. Viva Italia!”

Luca Cristofani, Italy coach: “We played a spectacular match - we performed at a great level and Japan achieved their best performance of the World Championship. I’m very happy with the girls, especially on being able to control themselves, come back and achieve this third place. I think today we played better than Japan at a defensive level and that is simply amazing. It was the way for us to control the match.”
