Puerto Rico hire Molero

Puerto Rico host the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship from September 11-19

San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 2, 2015 – Xiomara Molero has been named the new coach of Puerto Rico's U20 Women’s team that will participate in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship to be played in four cities of Puerto Rico from September 11 to 19.

Molero replaces Juan Carlos Nuñez, who has been hired to coach the senior women’s national team.

“We know Xiomara very well, first as a player and then as a coach, and she is the best suited to coach our U20 team and to make her debut at home during the World Championship,” said Elliot Matias Sosa, Vice President of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation.

Molero began her coaching career in 2007 leading Valencianas of Juncos to the title of the Women’s Volleyball Superior League. As a player, she won six national crowns with Criollas of Caguas and Mets of Guaynabo and served as captain of the national team for 16 years.
