Italy show neat execution to eliminate Russia

Italian Paola Egonu (14) was also a vocal leader during the match against Russia

Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 17, 2015 - Italy finished with all cylinders working perfectly en route to a straight set win over Russia while punching the ticket to the final-four phase of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship.

Luca Cristofani, coach of Italy: We played a perfect game with a clear mind about our goal. When we lowered our level always came back like the good boxers. Russia is a very strong team and we needed a game like the one we had today. Our girls really did a good job and we are very happy with the result and our pass to the semifinals. Now we have to wait and see who will be the opponent in the semifinals. Our team really played good volleyball today.

Carlotta Cambi, player of Italy: Our team had a target and we achieved it. All players contributed and it was really a team-effort. Every player did her best for the victory. Paola Egonu series of serves in the third set was a real boost for our team. She served strong but also with control and in both cases was very effective.
