Dominicans celebrate after the victory over Czech Republic
Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 12, 2015 – The Dominican Republic achieved their second victory in the tournament but coach Wagner Pacheco was not satisfied with the overall performance of his side while giving credit to the opponent for showing a positive attitude.
Wagner Pacheco, coach of Dominican Republic: Today we played bad but the Czechs really served hard and made it difficult for us. They didn’t respect us and went for the victory without fear. Our focus was not good.
Brayelin Martinez, captain of Dominican Republic: I expected another result and a more calmed match. We elevated our game in the last set and things were different. Our next match is against Brazil and we will be prepared. But each match is a different story.
Jineiry Martinez, player of Dominican Republic: It was not one of our best games. We lacked attitude but then in the fourth set we were more aggressive and saved the game and got the victory.
Ales Novak, coach of Czech Republic: We had a good reception and served very well but the attack of the Dominican Republic was better and that was the difference today. I am really satisfied with the way our team played today.
Tiziana Baumrukova, captain of Czech Republic: In the first set we played with courage and carried that attitude into the second set that we won after trailing for the most part. After that we made too many mistakes but we are OK with the result and it was a good match.
