The Brazilian team played outstanding defence against Turkey

Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 12, 2015 – Brazil achieved their first goal of qualifying to the next phase of the competition and coach Mauricio Thomas now wants to finish first in Pool D.

Mauricio Thomas, coach of Brazil: I am very happy with the performance of my team because we achieved our first goal of advancing to the second phase of the tournament. The team showed a lot of desire to win and it was important because they followed the strategy. Now we go against a tough team in our next match and our goal is to finish first in our pool.

Lana Conceicao, captain of Brazil: It was a very good match and we played very efficient volleyball. Our serve, blocking and overall defence were the keys for the victory.

Hasan Celik, coach of Turkey: We played very well at the start of the match and we lost the first two sets because simple mistakes at the end of them. We were not able to keep the level of energy on the court. Brazil played better than use and they wanted the win more than us.

Arelya Karasoy, captain of Turkey: We played better than yesterday but not good enough. The tournament still continues for us and we hope to improve in our next matches. We lost the sets with simple mistakes in the latter stages the same as yesterday against the Dominican Republic.
