Brayelin Martinez brings Dominican Republic to victory over Brazil

 

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 13, 2015 – Dominican Republic defeated a battling Brazilian team 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) at their third group stage game at FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship Pool D held in Maunabo. The Dominicans' feisty strategy earned them a triumph over a strong Brazil.

The Dominican squad came with an astonishing preparation for this intense clash against Brazil. Brazil failed blocking at the beginning and the Dominicans took advantage of it. The Caribbean spikes and blocks were the key for them to climb to the top of the pool and bring down their Latin rivals.

Dominican captain Brayelin Martinez nailed 22 points, spared in 20 attacks, 1 block and 1 service ace while Lorenne Geraldo was the most prolific scorer for Brazil, with 13 attacks and 1 block for a total of 14 points.
