Young volunteers at the heart of the action

 

Ball retrievers, moppers and flag bearers were an essential part of the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship in Puerto Rico

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 22, 2015 - The 2015 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship in Puerto Rico ended with victory for the Dominican Republic, but a team of devoted and enthusiastic ball retrievers, moppers and flag bearers were also celebrating their participation in the competition as the event ended on September 20.

The young volunteers in each of the competition's four venues - Caguas, Gurabo, Juncos and Maunabo (the team in Manaubo are pictured above) - were active for the 16 matches at each of the venues, beginning their duties after school and playing a crucial role in an efficiently run competition.

The Women's U20 World Championship in Puerto Rico featured 16 teams and a total of 64 matches. Puerto Rico were hosting the competition for the first time.
