Sperskaite heads Russia to Pool A first place over Bulgaria

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 13, 2015 - Russia overcame a tough Bulgarian team 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) at their third classificatory game at FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship Pool A held in Maunabo. The Russian fierceness served them a victory that led to the top of the pool.

Russia came for everything in this match. The Bulgarian squad triggered many failures blocking and receiving, enabling Russia to step ahead in the first set thanks to both unity and offensive power.

On the following chapters, Russia remained ahead but had to deal with a stronger Bulgarian answer, provided by Miroslava Paskova's bright performance, specially in defence, and Gergana Dimitrova in charge of the scoring.

Dimitrova herself placed atop of the charts with 18 points, but it wasn't enough for Bulgaria as Russia had in captain Angelina Sperskaite a true leader, with 12 points and solid offensive levels. Bomber Tatiana Iurinskaia led the scores with 16 tallies and middle-blocker Anastasiia Barchuk added 15 with 4 aces.
