Russia prevail over Cuba after three tight periods

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 11, 2015 - Russia defeated a young Cuban team 3-0 (25-9, 25-22, 25-17) at their first game at FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship Pool A held in Maunabo. The Russian powerhouse was too much for a Cuban side that is still looking for development.

The attacking force from Russia completely demolished Cuba on the beginning. Captain Angelina Sperskaite and Anastasiia Barchuk led an impressive offence in every rally of a very wide opening chapter.

However, Cuba switched their main scorer Anet Alonso for Dalila Palma, and the team was revitalised during the second set, even though they lost it 25-22. Third set showed another powerful version of Russia, enough to subdue the same renewed Cuba and finish the game.
