Mistakes were the key between Russia and Cuba

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 11, 2015 - While Cuban coach Wilfredo Robinson looked on the bright side and stressed the experience gained by his team against Russia, European coach Petr Kobrin praised the opponent’s potential, even with their high error rate.

Diaris Perez, Cuba captain: “I think we were a bit nervous, because we are a young team and this was our first game here. We know we came to learn and at least we could do that.”

Wilfredo Robinson, Cuba coach: “Our purpose on this game was to gain experience, since we are a young and new team. I’m confident we did, but we must learn from this as we made a lot of mistakes, mainly blocking.”

Angelina Sperskaite, Russia captain: “I think we made a good performance against a team like Cuba that always fight. Our defence was strong and that was an important factor.”

Petr Kobrin, Russia coach: “Despite the result, I believe Cuba is a good team. However, they made too many mistakes and that helped us get this match.”
