Japanese coach Abo aims to gold medal after Egypt win

Caguas, Puerto Rico, September 11, 2015 - After falling short in 2013 against continental rivals China in this same age group, now Japan began their road at U20 in a convincing fashion over Egypt in Puerto Rico, and coach Kiyoshi Abo stressed their current target is the gold medal.

Mizuki Yanagita, Japan captain: “My team played a good match against Egypt. All of the players are very happy with the result. It’s the best way to start a tournament.”

Kiyoshi Abo, Japan coach: “The girls did a very good job, but particularly on the last two sets. I’m happy with this victory in our first game, but this is just beginning. Now we continue to our goal - to win this World Championship.”

Ahmed Fathi, Egypt coach: “I think my players went a bit nervous for being the first match here. We must shake that off and improve for the next games.”
