Dominican Republic defeat Japan led by Brayelin Martinez

Juncos, Puerto Rico, September 15, 2015 - In a very interesting match, Dominican Republic managed to get their strategy together and came up with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-14) win over a strong yet affected by mistakes Japanese team, at their first match of second round Pool F in Juncos.

For the Dominican Republic, captain Brayelin Martínez scored 17 points, as the brightest star of the game. Shino Nakata did her best and got 11 points for the Japanese team, but they weren't enough.

The first set started with dominance from the Japanese players, who despite their height defended well over a taller Dominican team. Japan managed well their attacks yet it was not sufficient to avoid mistakes that allowed Dominican Republic team to win the first set 25-22, in a lethal final rush.

For the second set, Japan tried to maintain their defence but more mistakes came in their attack and so they failed to take the lead. The Dominican team had great spikes and defended well and took the set with an easy 25-15.

The third set was even just for the first five points. Once again, the difference was on the attack as the Dominican Republic was much more effective and steadily brought down the fierce Japanese defence. The Caribbean won the third and last set 25-14 and took the match 3-0.
