China cruise past Egypt at second round opener

Caguas, Puerto Rico, September 15, 2015 - After losing all chances of retaining FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship crown, China successfully began their reconstruction path with an easy 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17) victory over Egypt, which remains winless in Puerto Rico.

Using their usual repertoire of quick plays, China outscored Egypt in every department of the game, but especially in offensive (41-31) and serving (10-2). Jin Ye and Hu Mingyuan fired 3 aces apiece and also led the scoring with 16 and 14 points respectively, while Du Qingqing chipped in with 10.

On Egypt, captain Mai Moustafa was the most active scorer with 8 tallies, as no player on the team was able to reach double numbers. Malak Badawy and Rahma Almohandes were tied with 7 kills each, the latter playing just a little bit over than a whole set.

The game was comfortably handled by China from beginning to end. Opposite Gong was always active on the first moments of each set and then passed the torch to their teammates, each one of them widening the lead. The overall performance was that solid that Egypt just could wait for the final result.
