Bulgaria spoil Puerto Rican party with a four-set win

Maunabo, Puerto Rico, September 11, 2015 - Although it was all joy in Maunabo when Puerto Rico won that first set, the match changed its course and Bulgaria finally took down the host team 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 21-25) at their first FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship on Pool A.

Puerto Rico was a bit more aggressive on the first set, managing a slim lead that was reflected on the close 25-23 score. However, in front of a big crowd in Maunabo, Bulgaria stepped ahead at 7-5 and never lost control to tie the game, seizing Puerto Rico's unsuccessful defensive efforts.

After another hit from Bulgaria at the third chapter, local players Gabriela Ramos and Karla Santos sparked some hopes into the fans as Puerto Rico improved on the fourth set. Nonetheless, Bulgaria relied on Rachkovska, Dimitrova and company to seal the deal after a very close game.
