Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 17, 2015 – Mauricio Thomas praised the big effort made by his players against a tough Serbia team as Brazil reached the semifinals at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship.
Mauricio Thomas, coach of Brazil: Very happy after winning such strong pool. My players battled like warriors and I am satisfied because of that. Now we have to play against Japan in the semifinals, a team we respect a lot. Our team played hard from start to finish and won the most difficult pool in the second phase.
Lanza Conceicao, captain of Brazil: Our team showed a lot of desire and determination to get the victory from start to finish. It was a team-effort. The key for us today was the way we combined serve, block and defence. Everything worked good for us and we defeated a great team like Serbia.
Marijana Boricic, coach of Serbia: We know Brazil is a better team than us. We started to play better in the second set and were able to stay close. We played well but not enough to be in the semifinals. It is hard to say good bye but we did our best effort and we wish the best of luck to Brazil in the semifinals.
