Brazil sweep Czech Republic to open title quest

 

Brazil played good defence at the net against Czech Republic

Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 11, 2015 – Brazil began their campaign at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship with an easy straight-set (25-18, 25-11, 25-17) victory over Czech Republic at Juncos on Friday.

It was a dominant performance by the Brazilians led by the offensive exploits of Lorenne Geraldo combined with effective defense and good reception.

Geraldo led Brazil with 13 points while Drussyla Costa and Laiza Ferreira contributed 12 and 11 points in the victory. Brazil outblocked Czech Republic 12-3 with Ferreira scoring a match-high 7 blocks.

Brazil claimed the first set with comfortable margin of 25-18 behind the strong offensive support provided by Costa and Geraldo.

It was not different in the second set dominated by the South American side 25-11 with well located serves and effective blocking.

The powerful attacks by the Brazilians proved to be too much in the third set claimed by the South Americans 25-17 with Lorenne leading the way.
