Brazil stop main Italian attackers

Brazil clinchec the victory in four sets over Italy

Gurabo, Puerto Rico, September 15, 2015 – Brazil stopped Italian big guns to claim the victory in four sets as the South Americans started their quest for a semifinal berth at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship on Tuesday.

Mauricio Thomas, coach of Brazil: We played with a lot of heart and desire. It is an important victory against one of the favourite teams of the competition with a lot of top class players like (Paola) Egonu.

Lana Conceicao, captain of Brazil: We were able to neutralize their main offensive players and that was one of the keys for us today. We continue our quest for one semifinal berth. Our tactics worked perfect today.

Luca Cristofani, coach of Italy: It was a difficult for us. We failed in the fundamentals even though our level was high. Brazil is a good contender and played strong and better than us.

Sofia D’Odorico, captain of Italy: We did our best but made too many mistakes which didn’t help us to get the victory. Brazil is a strong team and played hard for the win.
