Attitude was the key for Serbia to defeat Mexico

Juncos, Puerto Rico, September 12, 2015 - In a match where nerves and control defined each team, Serbia won over a very out of focus Mexican team, taking control of the match from the first set and celebrating 3-0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-15).

The Serbian players Sara Vucicevic (14 points), Meja Aleksic and Bojana Milenkovic (both scored 11 points) were the key players for their team. As for Mexico, Maria Fernanda Rodriguez kept her team alive with 8 points.

The Serbian team showed a better strategy today facing the Mexican team, who started to struggle from the first set. Mexico had a bad defense against the tall Serbian players and were unable to maintain organization and control in the court. Serbia took over the first set with a 25- 19 win.

Mexican players were not defending in the second set and this was a free road for Serbia who attacked strongly and won over the Mexican team 25-8. There was no change in Mexico’s strategy, their attitude was the breaking point. “We had the game result in our hands. We have a good team but we failed in our attitude, m any ups and downs. A team depends in how they are feeling”, said María F. Rodríguez, the top scorer for México.

The third set had the Serbian team facing some struggle but as soon as they got the hang of the Mexican team strategy they came back and took the set 25-15 to win the game 3-0.
