The China U20 Women's Volleyball Team is a national team comprised of top talents selected from all over China.
Chen Youquan from Tianjin is the head coach, assisted by coach Wen Yuan from Shandong, and Zhang Mingwei from Liaoning.
Most of the players took part in the 17th Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship last year. But there are also new faces with great potential because of their outstanding performances earlier this year. Coming from 7 different provinces and clubs, they have an average age of 18.8, average height of 185.7cm, and have played volleyball for 5.5 years on average.
The China U20 Team has been training in Zhangzhou since April for this year's FIVB U20 World Championship in Puerto Rico. The aim has been at bringing the players up to international competitive level, upgrading the overall performance of the young players and identiying the most talented for the senior National Team.
China is one of only two teams to have participated in all 17 previous Junior/U20 World Championships (the other being Brazil). In the process, they have won two gold (including in 2013, which makes them the defending champions in Puerto Rico), three silver and fibe bronze medals.
